The Functional Amyloid Meeting @ DESY will highlight cutting-edge developments in the field of functional fibrils with a focus on amyloids molecular and cellular mechanisms and biomedical applications. The primary objective of this conference is to advance understanding and foster collaboration within the field of functional amyloids, which are highly ordered fibrillar structures that play critical roles in diverse biological processes. Functional amyloids are produced by all kingdoms of life, and while in human they can be associated with neurodegeneration, in microbes, they act to make the infection more severe. Through a meeting solely focusing on functional fibrils, we aim to propel the field forward by sharing most recent results.
